Salary Range: $64,438 to $76,982* CDN (Position grade 16 or 17), depending on the qualifications of the candidate

Job Summary
As the nation’s central bank, with over 1,200 employees, the Bank of Canada is currently seeking a dynamic Web Communication Development and Support Specialist to join the Web Communications Group in the Communications Department.
The Web Communications Group is responsible for the daily overall maintenance, development, and design of the Bank of Canadaâ??s web channels. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Web Communications, you assist in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of web properties. You also assist in making delivery channels easier to use by improving overall information architecture, interaction design, and web publishing processes.
Responsibilities
* provide expert web product advice in multiple and complex projects and ensure that business and functional requirements are implemented to the highest standards, based on organizational objectives
* conceptualize, design, develop, and implement graphical web user-interface guidelines and standards for web properties
* lead the collection, analysis, and synthesis of website traffic, statistics, and usage patterns, and use the results to continuously recommend new services, site layouts, and content
* develop a framework for understanding different audience segments and relating content to these different segments through targeted content deployment
* provide interactive solutions from internal and external content/data providers that maximize the impact of the content with financial markets, wire services, and the Canadian public
* assist in the evaluation of comparative web offerings in order to ensure that the Bank of Canada maintains a leading-edge position in web communications technology
* identify improvements and enhancements to web publishing processes
* work with internal clients at all levels, assess client requests, and collaborate to improve on requests, leveraging knowledge and experience
* integrate market knowledge and user-interface requirements to develop high-impact web pages targeted at different user profiles/segments
Screening Criteria
* university degree in computer studies, web design, or web programming
* a minimum of six years of experience developing and building web products and services
* demonstrated experience and strong foundation in web development and information design
* significant experience with enterprise-class CMS development and deployment and troubleshooting
* advanced knowledge of HTML, DHTML, CSS, XML, XSL, and other W3C standards/accessibility with an understanding of browser/Internet server settings and the implications of a variety of bandwidth environments
* demonstrated technical understanding of web publishing frameworks and LAMP software bundles, and web computing architectures
Position Requirements
* English or French essential
* demonstrated ability to support MySQL data and database-application design
* demonstrated experience with PHP, Ajax, JavaScript, XML and VBScript
* knowledge of LADP, Apache Server, MySQL, and Linux
* ability to work with web analytic tools, i.e., Web Trends, Google Analytics
* ability to visualize and communicate concepts effectively in an interactive, online environment
* ability to provide technical and consulting support to the web development team and web publishing staff
* demonstrated experience employing iterative web development methods (i.e., SCRUM, RAD)
* strong ability to solve problems and make recommendations for process improvement and performance-tuning of web publishing frameworks
* good understanding of online communities and trends as well as support tools for online collaboration
* facility in project planning; ability to maintain a tight schedule and to work overtime without notice
* ability to manage several projects simultaneously and to adapt quickly and effectively to the work program so as to respond to client expectations and changing priorities
* good interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in client-centred service delivery
Assets
* good communication skills in both official languages
* familiar with open source web development and online collaboration platforms
* proven development experience with Wordpress
* familiar with the Bankâ??s organization and technology
* knowledge of the business of the Bankâ??s Web Communications Group
