Skilled Frontend/Full-Stack WordPress Developer (Contractor)

Seeking a Skilled Frontend/Full-Stack WordPress Developer with 5-8 years of experience to work on an ongoing existing product (project). This is a freelance, contractor role with the potential for longer-term, stable work, and is 100% results-driven. This is a contractor role, it is not a full-time employee (salaried role). The work is based on specific contracted timeframe, sprints, milestones and specific deliverables. You would work with a small team where you will contribute to an already existing WordPress product which requires continuous feature-rich integrations, code improvements, customizations, and performance optimizations.

The qualified candidate may be asked to agree to a 4 to 6 weeks trial period. Mutually agreed compensation will be negotiated and is based on your skills assessment results, professionalism, proven quality, results-driven work, and timely delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins, including advanced functionality using hooks, actions, and filters.
  • Create mobile-first, responsive designs that prioritize performance and usability.
  • Implement speed optimization strategies, such as caching and minification, to improve platform load times.
  • Ensure design consistency across components and platforms by using global CSS standards.
  • Collaborate on BuddyPress, BuddyBoss Platform, WooCommerce, Dokan-type integrations, and customizations.
  • Build and maintain seamless API integrations with third-party tools.
  • Use Git and staging environments to test updates before deployment while debugging and ensuring optimized solutions.
  • Rigorously test for cross-browser compatibility, responsiveness, and performance.
  • Track progress and manage deliverables via Trello, Google Sheets, and other project management tools.

    Requirements
    WordPress Proven Experience (3–5 Years):
  • Developing custom WordPress themes and plugins, utilizing hooks, actions, and filters.
  • Frontend tools: HTML, CSS3, Elementor, and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).
  • Creating responsive, mobile-first interfaces with speed optimization best practices. Speed is very important.
  • Debugging using tools such as Query Monitor, browser DevTools, Responsive Testing Tools, and Terminal.
  • Expertise with performance tools and knowledge of scalable design principles (experience with SaaS platforms is a bonus).
  • Integration of APIs for seamless functionality.
  • Working with BuddyPress, BuddyBoss Platform, WooCommerce, Dokan, other third-party plugins and customizations.
  • Managing deployments using Git and staging environments for robust testing and production rollouts.
  • Solid understanding and implementation of WordPress professional coding standards and best practices.
  • Expertise in implementing hooks, actions, and filters (critical for this role).
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills using industry-standard tools (e.g., Browser Stack, Lambda, etc).
  • Familiarity with project management tools like Trello, Google Docs/Sheets, etc., for aligning deliverables.
  • Experienced with manual quality testing, bug fixing to meet speed and performance standards.

    Key Details
  • This is an ongoing project with an existing platform, not a one-time launch.
  • The right candidate will play a critical role in maintaining and scaling a product built for growth and enhanced functionality.
  • Pay is negotiated and based on your performance (consistency in quality, on-time delivery, working as a team, etc).

  • Willingness to provide if asked: 1–2 references from other professionals or clients, ideally within the past 1–2 years.
  • Have a WISE account for payment processing.
