The Partnership for Public Service is seeking a Junior Web Developer to play a key role in advancing our mission of a more effective government for the American people.
The Junior Web Developer will work as part of an interdisciplinary communications team of marketing, graphic design, social media, editorial, media, and events staff, and as a result should be able to collaborate with others and contribute ideas. This person will also work closely with other Partnership teams and must be able to manage relationships and lead assigned projects from start to finish.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with the Senior Web and Design Manager and Associate Design Manager to design, develop and maintain six websites and apps in various languages and technologies (primarily WordPress).
Manages all major website coding updates and deployments of new webpages and sites.
Designs and implements new ways to visualize data across our web properties.
Manages a group of CMS operators to keep websites current day-to-day.
Works with the design team to translate UX updates into functioning webpages.
Ensures all deliverables are adequately tested prior to release.
Troubleshoots, diagnoses and resolves web bugs and issues.
Collaborates, builds consensus and works constructively with project teams across all phases of development cycles.
Develops technical briefs and manages production timelines.
Stays informed of industry best practices.
Manages multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, under various deadlines.
Ability to develop responsive, mobile-friendly and accessible web interfaces.
Understanding and skill in web-based data visualization.
Exceptional attention to detail and concern for quality.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work across a team of designers, writers and digital marketers.
Strong organizational skills, ability to juggle multiple projects, work efficiently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

REQUIRED/PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent professional work or military experience.
One to three years professional experience in web development; nonprofit experience a plus.
Experience working backend web frameworks, specifically WordPress, required.
Proficiency in developing responsive, mobile-friendly and accessible web interfaces required.
Understanding of Google Analytics and SEO tactics strongly preferred.
Experience maintaining web files on a repository (GitHub) preferred.
Experience maintaining databases using MySQL preferred.
Experience with web-based data visualization preferred.
Experience working on a network of websites at one time preferred.
In-depth understanding of user experience design, A/B testing, and the ability to translate UX designs into working, responsive webpages preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY/REPORTING STRUCTURE
This position reports to the Senior Design and Web Manager.
This job operates in a professional office environment in Washington, DC and at external venues, both local and out-of-state. This position requires consistent use of office equipment such as computer, telephone, printer and scanner.
If travel occurs, it is usually local and during the business day. Some out of the area and/or overnight travel may be required.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
This is a fixed price contract position. This position shall not be entitled to insurance or retirement benefits provided by the Partnership generally to its employees. The position shall be solely responsible for any federal and state income or payroll taxes (including any penalties and interest) that are due for any payments made to her/him/they by the Partnership under this Agreement. Additionally, the Partnership assumes no responsibility for the payment of statutory or other fees pursuant to Social Security, workers’ compensation, state disability and unemployment insurance funds or any other employment related insurance. Consultant shall be responsible for determining the amounts of and making all such payments.
This position will be employed at the Partnership for 18 months, with the potential to extend or become full-time at the end of the term based on performance and organizational need. This is a fixed price position.
