Website Manager

Department: Communications

Reports To: Director of Communications

Status: Exempt – Full Time

Summary: In collaboration with other JW staff, this individual creates, enhances and markets the JW website and its content to achieve JW’s educational mission and to raise awareness of the Judicial Watch “brand.” This individual works to promote better visitor engagement and experience through the quality of the website’s content, style and structure.


1. Manage, organize and update website content
2. Keep website fresh and informative
3. Create and edit content
4. Identify and recommend additional content opportunities
5. In conjunction with other content providers, create, edit, proof, post, update and, as needed, purge or archive outdated content
6. Oversee content providers to ensure timely delivery of content and that content is refreshed
7. Work with JW attorneys and investigators to organize and “package” work product so it is accessible and appealing
8. Organize, index and archive (as needed) documents obtained and created through Judicial Watch’s legal and FOIA work
9. Explore ways to repurpose, repackage and/or interrelate content
10. Optimize content to improve SEO
11. Monitor and analyze web traffic, SEO and website metrics. Recommend changes to site content and structure to improve user engagement
12. Collaborate with social media, broadcast, video and email staff to increase web traffic through various social media platforms
13. Collaborate with Fundraising Department to enhance donor experience.
14. Work with outside web development consultants to design and implement changes to website
15. Work with vendors who host website and provide technical support
16. Ensure website is secure, functional, accessible and available
17. Ensure web content complies with laws, e.g., trademark, data protection, etc.
18. Other duties as assigned


1. Working knowledge of WordPress, HTML and web publishing
2. Minimum 2 to 3 years prior experience in a similar or related position
3. Undergraduate degree in Journalism, Marketing or relevant field
4. Excellent journalism and editorial writing skills (writing sample required)
5. Working knowledge of SEO and Web metrics
6. Familiarity with Social Media platforms a plus
7. Attention to detail
8. Excellent inter-personal skills
9. Ability to work with and manage vendors
10. Organizational, project management and time management skills
11. Ability to perform under pressure and deadlines
