WordPress Frontend Designer / Full-Stack Developer (Freelance Contractor Role)

We are seeking a WordPress Frontend Designer/Full-Stack Developer with 3–5 years of mid-level experience to work on an ongoing existing product.

This is a freelance contractor role with the potential for longer-term, stable work. You will work with a team on a single established WordPress product requiring continuous feature-rich integrations, improvements, customizations, speed and optimizations.

To ensure alignment with our requirements and working style, the qualified candidate would commit to a trial period of 1 month.

Key Details
– This is an ongoing project with an existing platform, not a one-time launch.
– Candidates will have a critical role in creating, maintaining and scaling a product built for growth and enhanced functionality.

Responsibilities
– Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins, including advanced functionality using hooks, actions, and filters.
– Create mobile-first responsive for various displays that prioritize performance and usability.
– Implement speed optimization strategies, such as caching and minification, to improve platform load times.
– Ensure design consistency across components and platforms by using global CSS standards.
– Collaborate on BuddyPress, BuddyBoss Platform, WooCommerce, Dokan-type integrations, and customizations.
– Build and maintain seamless API integrations with third-party tools.
– Use Git and staging environments to test updates before deployment while debugging and ensuring optimized solutions.
– Rigorously quality test for cross-browser compatibility, responsiveness, speed and performance.
– Bug testing, bug fixing, and ensure UI/UX consistency.
– Works good with our team and able to self-manage deliverables via Trello, Google Sheets, and other project management tools.

Requirements
Proven Work & Experience (3–5 Years):
– Honest, focused with quality, on-time deliverables.
– Developing custom WordPress themes and plugins, utilizing hooks, actions, and filters.
– Strong UI and UX skills for mobile responsive and display screens.
– Frontend tools: HTML, CSS3, Elementor, and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).
– Creating responsive, mobile-first interfaces with speed optimization best practices.
– Debugging using tools such as Query Monitor, browser DevTools, Responsive Testing Tools, and Terminal.
– Expertise with performance tools and knowledge of scalable design principles (experience with SaaS platforms is a bonus).
– Integration of APIs for seamless functionality.
– Working with BuddyPress, BuddyBoss Platform, WooCommerce, Dokan, and other third-party plugins or customizations.
– Managing deployments using Git and staging environments for robust testing and production rollouts.

Additional Skills:
– Strong understanding of WordPress coding standards and best practices.
– Expertise in implementing hooks, actions, and filters (critical for this role).
– Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills using industry-standard tools (e.g., Browser Stack).
– Familiarity with project management tools like Trello, Google Docs/Sheets, etc., for aligning deliverables.
– Experience with quality testing and bug fixing to meet performance standards.

Qualified Candidates Must:
– Be comfortable delivering consistent work using % complete views and adhering to sprint timelines.
– Sign an NDA and formal contract upon acceptance.
– Provide 2–3 examples of prior client work—demonstrating both frontend and backend WordPress development skills.
– Provide 1–2 references from past projects or clients, ideally from the past 1–2 years.
