Job Title: Senior Web Developer & WordPress Specialist (Principal Engineer)
Type: Remote
Working Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Pacific Time), Monday–Friday
We’re looking for an experienced and accomplished Senior Web Developer & WordPress Specialist to develop and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio showcasing code-first, mobile-first, and fully custom WordPress development—both themes and plugins.
REQUIREMENTS
Technical Skills (Must-Have)
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience developing custom WordPress themes and plugins from scratch
- Expert-level proficiency in:
- PHP, MVC, and OOP principles
- WordPress APIs, Classes, and Hooks
- ACF & ACF Blocks
- JavaScript (vanilla JS, jQuery, AJAX)
- SQL and database schema design
- WordPress REST API
- 3rd-party integrations (APIs, XML, JSON)
- CSS frameworks (Bootstrap, Tailwind)
- SCSS
- Node.js, npm, gulp, Composer
- Git (command line): merging, conflict resolution, rebasing
- SSH
- Pixel-perfect, responsive frontend development from design files
- Code formatting and naming conventions
- Optimizing performance and achieving perfect Lighthouse scores
Technical Skills (Good to Have)
- Working knowledge of: Linux command line, CI/CD pipelines, Docker and Kubernetes (containerization)
- Experience with: GSAP animations, React / JSX, Native Gutenberg block development, WooCommerce, Headless WordPress
Design & Tooling
- Familiarity with Figma
- Basic design theory
- Adobe Photoshop (basic use)
- Jira, Slack, and other project management tools
Soft Skills
- Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken)
- Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers
- Organized, accountable, and proactive
- Responsive and clear in communication
