Job Title: WordPress Support Engineer
Type: Remote
Working Hours: Choose one of the following shifts (Monday to Friday):
– Shift 1: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Pacific Time)
– Shift 2: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM (Pacific Time)
We are looking for a WordPress Support Engineer to join our technical support team. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with a strong troubleshooting mindset, technical depth in WordPress, and the ability to quickly resolve bugs and performance issues. You’ll be the first line of defense in diagnosing problems, maintaining stability, and supporting internal and external clients with WordPress-related technical issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, crashes, or plugin conflicts in WordPress websites
- Perform regular site maintenance, monitoring uptime, performance, and security
- Provide technical support to internal teams and client-facing stakeholders
- Debug and optimize slow-loading pages and improve Lighthouse scores
- Assist with plugin configuration, updates, and third-party integration issues
- Document resolutions and contribute to internal knowledge base
- Collaborate with developers to escalate complex issues when needed
Required Skills
- 3+ years working with WordPress (including multisite, ACF, WooCommerce)
- Solid PHP and WordPress knowledge (themes, plugins, APIs, hooks)
- Experience with ACF & ACF Blocks
- Proficient in debugging JS (vanilla, jQuery, AJAX), PHP, SQL
- Familiar with REST API, 3rd-party integrations (JSON, XML)
- Git (command line): merge, rebase, conflict resolution
- CSS (SCSS, Bootstrap/Tailwind) basics
- Strong troubleshooting, responsive issue handling, and performance tuning
- Comfortable with SSH and browser dev tools
- Familiarity with performance optimization techniques and error log analysis
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in English
- Clear and empathetic communication, especially when explaining technical issues to non-technical users
- Patient, calm, and solution-focused under pressure
- Strong attention to detail and high accountability
- Self-motivated with a collaborative and helpful attitude
Nice to Have
- Working knowledge of Linux command-line, SSH
- Exposure to Jira and agile environments
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines or Docker is a plus
